One Foot In The Tao

Tao Contemplation A

What is to be filled must first be emptied, this is the principal of transformation and healing.
This is the nature of Tao.
The ebb and flow of Heaven and Earth, the wax and wane of Yin and Yang can be called a law of Tao,
Yet if we attempt to break this law we will not be punished by an outside force.
So, the laws of Tao can be called Nature.
When man forgets his place between Heaven and Earth, he loses root and and his connection.
When our connection is lost, we become confused and disturbed.
To overcome confusion we must connect with Heaven, and be rooted in the Earth.
This brings balance and clarity, as we recall the oneness of Tao.

Sleepy

Wake up sleepy children , from your slumber . Your fear and ignorance is what continues to make you victims.
Those who have begun to open their eyes suffer while you sleep . As the zombies walk , the truly living ones weep because they have come to know compassion . It is the stirring ones who see a wiser path , yet suffer disillusionment when they lack the position to initiate change.
Good people suffer for the deeds of evil men , and for the deeds of the sleeping.
The sleeping are blinded and even idolize evil men . So lax are the sleepers , and heedless , blinded by fame position and money .
Will you wake up ? Or will you just go back to chewing your cud and watching survivor?

Belief

Here I am, walking around in my ape-suit like the rest of us, when it comes to mind that people enjoy entertaining beliefs. Lives and lifestyles are based on belief - Do you believe that ? Do you believe in god, in ghosts, in unicorns ? What are your beliefs ? I don't believe in that. They just go on and on about belief.
I think we overemphasise beliefs, due to confusion between belief and faith. A belief is just that , a belief . If it were anything more we would call it a truth : and would it not be wiser to base our living on a truth as opposed to a belief ?
We even have belief systems wherein we are taught what to believe ; and that seems to me to be merely beliefs handed down, rather than developed and built upon . This spiritual and intellectual stagnation has been one of mankind's shortcomings.
In our progression , belief is a good beginning. It can serve to motivate and inspire. If we add to this wisdom and faith directed by mind , we can move from belief to truth. More often than not we must shed our beliefs in order to see the truth . Once real truth is known we must live by it. When we can live by truths , we have found the way.
Truth is not dependant on belief . Truth exists independently , our beliefs serve only as a motivator. Whatever you call the higher power , you are seeking the same end. Regardless of culture , language , or symbolism - there is one Way. Many paths to the same front door.
Over-belief causes war , truth does not

Fusion: awareness of the two

When we desire things, it is often because of the physical part of ourselves. It is this material aspect which directs us to chase after our desires in an unwise manner. Add to this a dull mind and ignorance, and you are easily led to courses of action that will inevitably harm yourself and others as you quest to quench your desire. I can say that if you first quench your spiritual thirst , you will lessen in physical longing.
Wherever your will is set , there is a higher will present, and directing you , guiding from within. Prayer is not about asking and receiving , but a process of learning to harmonize finite human will , with infinite spiritual will .
Life is an organized process , its unfolding and complex interactions , mapped and accounted for , petitioned and approved. We only appear to live in chaos because we are a confused people who search for truth without. We sit and cry that nothing makes sense, nothing is fair... but how much time do we take to commune and learn to function as part of the all , instead of by our own whims.

Transformation

Not a lot of us are truly happy in life. Most of the time this is a symptom of the fact that we are not happy with who we are.
In my own life , I have met many decent human beings , copious amounts of those who are human beings in name only(poor excuses for human beings), and very few exceptional people.
Here is the vicious circle: being lazy, apathetic, uncaring and heedless is very easy to do, this is why the majority fall into this category. It is very challenging , however , to strive to reach your full potential- the potential to be exceptional, enlightened and free, so very few undertake this path. The lazy path, in reality only appears effortless, in fact it will require so much effort that it will leave you sick and decayed.
The lazy path brings suffering, the exceptional path brings peace.
To deny your potential is blasphemous. You will be governed by the false in place of truth, therefore you are lost. Your spirit thrives on ultimate truth, and progression; when you deny your spirit and work against the TAO you are lost.
Find yourself, but take care to let no man define you.
The only way to progress is to take an honest look at who you are. Only when you see the starting point clearly, can you move forward.
The time is now, and it begins with you.
Let us unite, and revitalize the ancient Way.

Regulating Emotion

Desire itself is a natural and necessary part of being human . It is attachment to the object of desire that causes problems.
Without desire , we would never have the urge to learn and grow , or reach our potential as human beings .
What makes the problem more complex and confusing , is that our minds are overwhelmed by emotion ; therefore we fail to see things clearly - the truth of things. Being overwhelmed by emotion is to the mind what trying to peer through a glass of filthy water is to the eyes .
So , how does one filter the waters of the mind , and how can we calm its flow in order to stop the sediment from being stirred up ?
Meditation will calm the waters , and bring Power Of The Mind.
This power is the filter.
The best way to influence others is unseen : just work to fulfill your Human Potential , Live by Truth and TAO , and your life will serve as a glowing example to others.
Use the wise-ones , sages, and masters, as your mentors - discard the Harpers and the Trumps... they are little more than fools.

Desire Leads To Suffering

So , how does one get what he wants , without desire and suffering ?

At this point , with our small and cloudy minds , what we want tends not to be what is best ; or what is harmonious .
We have to make a distinction between the things we desire for instant gratification or relief , and what we want in order to care for and nurture ourselves and others . Is your desire motivated by greed , or envy , is it fleeting ? Or , is it substantial and in harmony with the TAO ?
Let go of the things that you do not truly want , and release the things you do.
Free , Free , Set Them Free . Just like Sting said .
Clinging to things too much , will actually repel them . You are only perpetuating a state of wanting .
Keep the things you want in mind , and follow the Way . When you learn to live by the Tao, instead of yourself - you can understand that everything you need is provided by Tao . When you live in harmony with the Holy Spirit(TAO) , you understand your place and function in the universe .
Live with the attitude that all is provided for , and discard the attitude of needing and craving.
